2012

The Beginning

Started in a cramped office with just three of us and way too much coffee. We took on cases bigger firms wouldn't touch because they were "too messy." Turns out, messy is where we thrive.

2015

Growing Pains

Moved to Bay Street after landing a major restructuring case that put us on the map. Brought on five new associates who actually got what we were trying to build here.

2018

Expansion

Added M&A and IP practices because clients kept asking if we could help with those too. Figured we'd rather learn than say no. Best decision we made.

2021

Team of 30

Hit 30 lawyers and staff. Started winning awards we didn't even know we were nominated for. Still feels weird putting those plaques on the wall, but okay.

2026

Today

We're handling some of the most complex corporate transformations in Canada. The work's gotten bigger, but we haven't forgotten what got us here - giving a damn about our clients' success.

How We Got Here

Back in 2012, I'd been working at one of those massive corporate firms where your case number mattered more than your actual problem. Watched too many good businesses get generic advice that didn't fit their situation.

So yeah, I left. Started Morphic Lift with two colleagues who were just as fed up with the usual way of doing things. We wanted to build something different - a place where we actually listened first and billed second.

The name? "Morphic" because businesses are always changing, always adapting. "Lift" because our job is to elevate what you're building, not weigh it down with unnecessary complications. We've stuck with that philosophy through every case, every expansion, every late night in the office.
